Sponsored and produced to benefit Park Hill School PTSA
by Dee Ciancio, Realtor® of Fuller | Sotheby's International Realty and The Crafted Home.
The 3rd Annual Old-House Expo is Denver's first event dedicated to helping owners of vintage homes (50+ years of age) find the insight, expertise and resources necessary to preserve, maintain and respectfully renovate their irreplaceable homes. Admission is FREE for all the exhibits, presentations and panel discussions.
Focus On Sustainability and "Green" Strategies for Old Houses
This year's Old House Expo will focus on energy efficiency and sustainability, rooted in the philosophy that saving a vintage home - that doesn't need to be built from scratch - is the highest and best form of sustainability. Learn how you can get the most from your home improvement investment. Our expert speakers will give you great insight for restoring, repairing and upgrading your home in a way that maximizes your home's energy and resource efficiency. Discover how restoration benefits sustainability by giving new life to old houses that will last for decades - perhaps centuries - to come.
Why Sustainability and Preservation Matter
The Old House Expo will also focus on "smart" energy conservation techniques. We want to help old house owners understand what produces real results, not merely symbolic ones, and how to improve their home's energy efficiency without destroying its architectural details and historic character.
According to a 2004 Brookings Institution study - as reported in Preservation Magazine of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, May-June 2008 issue - by the year 2030, over half of all buildings in the United States will have been erected after the year 2000... and some 82 billion square feet of that built space will have replaced existing buildings - unless steps are taken to save existing structures now.
